Mysterious Rose Garden II, IV, V

$5.00$6.00

A small selection of mystical anarchic zines from Lethbridge, Alberta’s The Moorish Mail-Order Mystery School. Chock full of collaged deep weirdness, intensive research, and personal reflections, all along tunnels of the spiritual anarchists.

Issue 5. covers contributions by the author to Cuniform on a number of topics, including engaging personal asides, reflections on adventures in rescuing printed material from recycling bins, finding local South Indian vegetarian cuisine, finding movies buried on Tubi, recent reading, and much more. Immediately I was struck by seeing my favorite John Blanche illustration of a sort of enraged moon collaged into a lengthy and personal overview of the author’s history with game books, specifically our favorite, Fighting Fantasy, though it also mentions Games Workshops publishing of Principa Discordia.

Issue 4. Similarly collected from Cuniform, covers a vast range of research topics through personal anecdotes. Topics covered include (mis)adventures in library sale digging, more dumpster archeology, a brief discussion of the dearly departed titan of spiritual anarchism Hakim Bey, research into Swordquest and similar Augmented Reality Games, pilgrimages to sites of power in Alberta. and legend tripping.

Issue 2. features a variety of writing and collage, including mystical dreamlike transmissions from Sirius by Justin Moore, an excerpt on the Non-Juring Anglican Benedictine Monastic Order (!?) by Anarcho-Monarchist Reverend P. Bothwell Cranston, and a rememberance of Detroir’s post-jazz saxaphonist, composer, and Moorish Science disciple Zaruq Z. Bey.
